WORDPRESS ALTERNATIVE

A WordPress alternative without a server to patch

WordPress runs your website on PHP and a database, extended with plugins you keep updated. Typeroll keeps the parts people like (a visual editor, pages, media, forms) and publishes the site as static files instead. There is no PHP, no database and no plugin code behind the pages your visitors see.

Source for WordPress requirements: WordPress.org recommends PHP 8.3 or greater and MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.11 or greater (checked 2026-11-01).

What you keep

  • Your URLs: every old public URL gets a destination, preserved or redirected
  • Your content and media, imported into editable blocks
  • SEO details: titles, descriptions, canonicals, redirects and structured data

How the move works

  1. Your AI agent imports content through the WordPress REST API or the Typeroll helper plugin, and media into your own storage.
  2. It rebuilds pages as editable blocks, choosing to preserve or renew text and design separately.
  3. You review previews, URL parity and publication checks.
  4. You publish, then switch DNS when the new site is verified.

When WordPress is still the better choice

If your site depends on WordPress plugins that run on every request, such as e-commerce, memberships or complex logged-in areas, keep WordPress for that part. Typeroll suits content websites, company sites, blogs and directories that are read far more than they are changed.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Questions and answers

Can I keep my WordPress URLs?

Yes. The migration records every old public URL and gives it a destination, the same path or a redirect, before launch.

What happens to my plugins?

Their features are rebuilt with built-in blocks and modules (forms, analytics, SEO, galleries), custom block types or Extensions. Plugins themselves do not run in Typeroll.

Do I need a developer?

An AI agent such as Claude Code or Codex runs the migration through MCP. Editors only use the visual editor afterwards.

Is Typeroll open source like WordPress?

Yes. Typeroll CMS is MIT-licensed. Typeroll Cloud is the hosted option.
