Launch checklist
The launch readiness report lists what a site still needs to be found, shared and understood. Each item is either a warning or a suggestion, with a one-line fix and a link to its section on this page. Nothing in the report blocks a publication, and a clean report is not approval to publish.
Run it before the first production publication, again after it, and after larger changes such as a redesign or a migration.
Read the report
Section titled “Read the report”- Portal: on the site’s overview page, select Check readiness in the Launch readiness panel. The report runs when you ask for it, not after every publication.
- AI agent: ask it to run
read_site_readiness. The bundled recipes for new sites, migrations and redesigns end with this step. - API:
GET /api/v1/sites/{siteId}/readiness, with any key that can read the site. Add?version=<id>to check a branch.
The response looks like this:
{ "site_id": "acme", "checked_at": "2026-11-01T10:00:00.000Z", "summary": { "ok": 14, "suggestions": 4, "warnings": 2 }, "items": [ { "id": "share_image", "status": "suggestion", "message": "No default share image. Pages without their own image fall back to the logo when shared.", "fix": "Optional: upload or choose a 1200 × 630 px image, or create one with tr-imagegen, and set it as default_og_image.", "guide": "https://typeroll.com/docs/guides/launch-checklist/#share-image" } ]}details lists up to 20 affected pages or values when an item has them. The
tool reference summarizes what each
item checks.
The report reads the saved content and settings of the selected version, not the live website. Unsaved working copies are not included. Confirm items that depend on services outside Typeroll, such as Search Console, in those services.
For each warning or suggestion, either fix it or record why it stays open, for
example in your agent workspace’s
decisions.md. A suggestion you decide against is a valid outcome.
Share image
Section titled “Share image”The image social networks and chat apps show when someone shares a page that has no image of its own. Without one, the site logo is used, which rarely makes a good card.
- Suggestion when no default share image is set. It is optional.
- Warning when the default or a page’s share image will not show as a card: an SVG, an inline data URL, or an image narrower than 600 px.
Fix: choose an existing image, upload one, or ask your agent to create one
with the tr-imagegen recipe. Use a 1200 × 630 px PNG or JPEG and enter its
address in Site settings → SEO → Default OpenGraph image URL
(default_og_image). Typeroll does not
generate title cards. An SVG, AVIF or TIFF share image from the media library
is published as a 1200 × 630 PNG copy, contained on the theme’s background
colour.
Home description
Section titled “Home description”The home page’s meta description is the text search engines most often show for the site’s name.
- Warning when there is no published home page at
/, or no description at all. - Suggestion when the home page uses the site-wide fallback description.
Fix: write a specific Meta description for the home page in the editor’s Meta panel, saying what the site offers.
Organization
Section titled “Organization”The name and logo in the home page’s Organization structured data, which search engines use for the brand’s knowledge panel.
Fix: set Organization name and a square PNG or JPEG Logo URL in
Site settings → SEO (organization.name, organization.logo). Without them, the site name
and site logo are used.
Same as
Section titled “Same as”Links to the organization’s official profiles, which connect the website to
the brand elsewhere. They are written as sameAs in the Organization schema.
Fix: add official profiles such as LinkedIn, GitHub, Instagram or Wikipedia
to Site settings → SEO → Profile URLs (sameAs) (organization.same_as),
one per line.
Favicon
Section titled “Favicon”Warning when no favicon is set: browsers and Google search results then show a generic icon.
Fix: upload a square icon and enter its address in Site settings → General → Favicon URL. Add the 180 × 180 Apple touch icon and the 192 × 192 app icon at the same time.
Analytics consent
Section titled “Analytics consent”- Warning when third-party tags in the Integrations app, or known tracking scripts in the custom code fields, load without a cookie banner.
- Suggestion when no analytics is set up, so visits and AI referrals are not measured.
Fix: turn on the cookieless Analytics module, or load tags through Integrations with the cookie banner on, so they wait for consent.
Search Console
Section titled “Search Console”Typeroll cannot see whether a site is verified in Google Search Console when
the verification uses DNS, so this item is a suggestion until a verification
<meta> tag is present in Site settings → Advanced → <head> scripts.
Fix: follow Google Search Console to verify the site and
submit /sitemap.xml.
Privacy page
Section titled “Privacy page”- Warning when the site uses a cookie banner, Integrations or tracking scripts and no privacy or cookie policy page is found.
- Suggestion otherwise.
Fix: publish a privacy page, link it in the footer and enter its address
as the cookie banner’s Privacy policy URL in Site settings →
Integrations (cookie_consent.privacy_policy_url).
Contact page
Section titled “Contact page”Suggestion when no contact page or contact details are found.
Fix: publish a contact page, for example with a form, or fill in the contact details in Site settings.
Not found page
Section titled “Not found page”Every publication includes a 404 page with the site’s header and footer, and
one per language section. This item is always ok
and is listed so the checklist is complete.
Indexable pages
Section titled “Indexable pages”- Warning when the whole site is set to noindex (
sitewide_noindex). - Suggestion when only one page can be indexed. One page can rank for only a few searches.
Fix: turn off site-wide noindex in Site settings → SEO when the site is ready to be found. Give each product, service or common question its own page.
Orphan pages
Section titled “Orphan pages”Warning for indexable pages that no other page, menu or listing links to. Visitors and crawlers have no way to reach them.
Fix: link each listed page from a related page, a menu or a listing block.
Duplicate titles
Section titled “Duplicate titles”Warning when several pages share the same title.
Fix: give each page a title that says what is different about it. Set the SEO title when the visible title must stay the same.
Duplicate descriptions
Section titled “Duplicate descriptions”Warning when several pages share a meta description, or several pages fall back to the site-wide description.
Fix: write a specific Meta description for each page.
Heading H1
Section titled “Heading H1”Warning for pages with no H1 or more than one. The count includes the page’s template and the header and footer.
Fix: give each page exactly one H1 that names its topic and use H2 for sections. A Site title block in the header should not be an H1.
Long descriptions
Section titled “Long descriptions”Warning for meta descriptions longer than 160 characters, which search results may cut off.
Fix: put the key point first and keep the description under 160 characters.
Duplicate fonts
Section titled “Duplicate fonts”Warning when a theme font is loaded again, for example by an @import or
@font-face in custom CSS or a link in the head code. The theme already loads
the fonts chosen in Site settings once; a second load slows every page.
Fix: remove the extra load and choose the font in Site settings → Design.
Custom CSS overrides
Section titled “Custom CSS overrides”Warning when custom CSS works against the theme: heavy !important use,
fonts that are not in the theme, a background image on the first section, or
rules on the platform’s block classes.
Fix: ask your agent to run lint_design_tokens. Each finding names the
named style, design token or block
setting that replaces the rule. A hero image set in the block’s own image
field loads early; one set in CSS cannot.
AI crawler zone conflict
Section titled “AI crawler zone conflict”The site’s AI crawlers setting in Site settings → SEO
(ai_crawler_policy) decides what Typeroll
writes in robots.txt and the Content-Signal header: allow_all (the
default), no_training or block_all. A Cloudflare zone has its own AI crawler
settings, which are enforced at Cloudflare’s edge and win over robots.txt.
The report compares the two when the site has a website host in a connected Cloudflare account and the connection’s existing token already has Bot Management Read. Typeroll never asks for that permission for this check and never changes zone settings.
- Warning when the zone’s settings contradict the site’s policy.
- Suggestion when the comparison was not possible, for example without a Cloudflare connection or permission to read bot settings.
Fix: in the Cloudflare dashboard, under Security → Settings → Bot
traffic, make the AI crawler policies (Search, Training, Agents) and the
managed robots.txt match the site’s policy. Blocking Training in
Cloudflare can also block Googlebot, Bingbot and Applebot, because Cloudflare
applies the strictest rule to crawlers with several purposes. See
SEO for your site.
Structured data
Section titled “Structured data”Warning for page JSON-LD that is missing required properties or has invalid dates or URLs.
Fix: add the missing properties or correct the values. Remove structured data that does not match what the page shows. The SEO guide lists what Typeroll generates for you.
Check it
Section titled “Check it”Run the report again after fixing items and after the publication. The summary
shows how many warnings and suggestions remain. For migrations,
get_migration_launch_report remains the separate gate for URL continuity and
content parity; see the migration SEO checklist.
