# Google Search Console Source: [Google Search Console](https://typeroll.com/docs/guides/search-console/) > Verify a Typeroll site in Google Search Console, submit its sitemap, read what Google reports, and use the data during a migration. [Google Search Console](https://search.google.com/search-console) shows how Google crawls and indexes a site and which searches lead to it. Typeroll writes the sitemap and indexing signals; verifying the site and reading the reports happen in Search Console with your own Google account. ## 1. Choose a property type | Property | Covers | Verification | | ------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ | | **Domain** (recommended), for example `example.com` | Every subdomain and both `http` and `https` | A DNS TXT record at your DNS provider | | **URL prefix**, for example `https://www.example.com/` | Only addresses under that prefix | A `` tag in the site’s head, or another method Google offers | Use the domain your visitors will see. A temporary Typeroll address is replaced when you [switch to your own domain](https://typeroll.com/docs/publishing/domains/), and it is kept out of search on purpose. ## 2. Verify **Domain property:** add the TXT record Google shows at your DNS provider, for example in the Cloudflare dashboard under **DNS → Records**, then select **Verify** in Search Console. DNS changes can take a while to be visible. **URL-prefix property with the HTML tag method:** 1. Copy the `` tag from Search Console. 2. In Typeroll, open **Site settings → Advanced** and paste the tag into **`` scripts**. This field needs admin permission on the site. 3. Save and publish the site, then select **Verify** in Search Console. Keep the tag in place; removing it can end the verification. Typeroll’s [launch readiness report](https://typeroll.com/docs/guides/launch-checklist/#search-console) recognizes the tag. It cannot see a DNS verification, so that item stays a suggestion for Domain properties. ## 3. Submit the sitemap In Search Console, open **Sitemaps** and submit `sitemap.xml`. Typeroll lists every published, indexable page in it, and the image sitemap `sitemap-images.xml` is referenced from `robots.txt`. Large sites get a sitemap index automatically. You only need to submit the sitemap once; Google reads it again on its own after each publication. [Bing Webmaster Tools](https://www.bing.com/webmasters) can import a verified site and its sitemap from Search Console. ## 4. Read the reports * **Pages:** which addresses are indexed and why others are not. A page you set to noindex appears here as excluded, as intended. * **Performance:** searches, clicks, impressions and positions per page. * **URL inspection:** how Google sees one address, and a request to index it after a change. If pages are missing, compare with Typeroll’s own checks: the [launch readiness report](https://typeroll.com/docs/guides/launch-checklist/) for site-level gaps and `check_site_indexing` for the robots policy of the live address. See also [SEO and indexing](https://typeroll.com/docs/technical/seo-and-indexing/). ## Use Search Console data in a migration When you move a site to Typeroll, the old site’s Search Console data shows which addresses carry traffic. An AI agent can import it into the site’s URL inventory with `import_gsc_performance`: * Paste a **Pages** CSV export from Search Console (`csv` and `source_origin`). * Or query a property directly (`property`, for example `sc-domain:example.com`). On Typeroll Cloud this requires that the platform’s Search Console service account has read access to the property; the error message names the account to add. Self-hosted portals configure their own service account in `GOOGLE_SEARCH_CONSOLE_CREDENTIALS`. The addresses with the most clicks then rise to the top of the migration work list. See the [migration SEO checklist](https://typeroll.com/docs/guides/migration-seo-checklist/). After a domain change, keep the old property and watch its **Pages** report for errors for a few weeks. ## Check it * Search Console shows the property as verified and the sitemap as successfully read. * The [launch readiness](https://typeroll.com/docs/guides/launch-checklist/#search-console) item is `ok` for a meta-tag verification, or recorded as done for a DNS verification. * **URL inspection** of the home page reports that it can be indexed.
